Pay Class: Full Time/Exempt

Shifts/Availability: As needed

Rate: 47,000-52,000

 

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all. 
 

Position Purpose: Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Membership & Child Watch Director leads the membership team in their efforts to drive new membership sales, meeting or exceeding goals assigned by management, and delivers a stellar member experience that leads to strong member retention.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and maintains a full understanding of the benefits, offerings and values of YGBW membership and programming and can articulate them to all types of people with differing needs.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to meet and/or exceed membership/ Child Watch goals and lead-to-join rates set by management.
  • Manages and facilitates membership prospects and process via organizational CRM system.
  • Hires, trains, and oversees membership staff and volunteers, making sure there is ample coverage during branch operating hours. Onboards staff with needed training.
  • Regularly audits and recognizes staff for following standard operating procedures and delivering great member experiences.
  • Develops and manages a cause-driven tour script and sales process for their branch, ensuring all staff can deliver it with enthusiasm and energy, and are comfortable directly inviting/encouraging prospects to join the Y.
  • Identifies training needs and areas of opportunities for their staff teams, developing and leading training sessions as needed.
  • Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA to drive retention.
  • Assists with membership account maintenance such as the collection of unpaid membership fees, and the processing of both third-party and income-based memberships.
  • Manages branch events that drive new membership sales and/or retention from concept to completion, as well as representing the YMCA at community events.
  • Chairs the branch’s volunteer membership committee, empowering the committee to support the branch in driving membership sales and retention.
  • Oversees and manages the branch’s membership budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • HS diploma/GED required, bachelor’s degree highly preferred
  • 3-5 years of member services/sales experience required with strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience training others in becoming skilled in sales, prospecting and cultivation preferred
  • Friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to understand and appreciate the value and importance of every member and customer interaction.
  • Team player who works with a sense of urgency to empower others in achieving set goals.
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills, friendly and approachable.
  • Excellent verbal skills required. Articulate, engaging and comfortable with public speaking and presentations to groups/individuals.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Advanced computer knowledge with the ability to learn new systems
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
