Position Purpose:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The is Pool Technician Maintenance III is responsible for the pool infrastructure, pump rooms, tools, equipment, and services that support the functionality, safety, cleanliness, and sustainability of pools, buildings, grounds and infrastructure of the assigned branch. This position manages maintenance and operation of 5 pools, pump room structures and assists in maintenance within a facility up to 220k square feet with 54 acres. 

 

 
Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide overall operation of 5 Pools and additional facility maintenance support, including balancing pool chemistry, coordinating deliveries, maintaining and repairing pool equipment, planning and developing preventative pool maintenance, opening and closing outdoor pools on schedule, supporting other facility staff when needed, and taking overall ownership of duties actions and responsibilities.
  • Pool Tech III will take ownership of all physical things pool related including balancing pool chemistry, maintenance and repairs, winterizing/ de-winterizing, backwashing, equipment maintenance and logging chem readings on a daily basis.
  • Provide prompt response regarding pool operations, maintenance and/or buildings and grounds issues.
  • Maintain swimming pools per CCHD and PA Dept. of Health Regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pump rooms and workspace at all times.
  • Coordinate with Sr Facility Director for related inspections and contractors that work on the pools, facility, and grounds and purchasing of chemicals and materials. 
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of chemicals and maintenance supplies.
  • Follow all Association safety standards when performing any tasks.
  • Ensure that all YMCA vehicles are clean and in good working condition and driven by association eligible drivers with proper training.
  • Maintain all pools and connected areas to a high standard of safety and cleanliness.
  • Obtain a CPO and PA pesticide applicators license
  • Develops and controls pool maintenance schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, annually)
  • Maintain grounds in a safe manner and have all seasonal facilities open and operational according to schedule developed by Program Directors. Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of pool operation management experience, or 3 years combined experience in hands-on maintenance and pool operation.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing and pool systems.
  • Skills in troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Obtain and/or maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of pool chemistry, systems, and pool operation
  • Possess or be able to obtain Certified Pool Operators registration.
  • Possess or be able to obtain PA class 24 Pesticide Certification
  • Be willing to alter work schedule to deal with job demands and manage competing priorities.
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
