Position Overview:


As a Bakery Category Manager you will be responsible for strategic planning, product selection, vendor management and financial analysis to optimize the bakery category’s performance. You will play a critical role in driving sales and profitability withing the bakery department to meet customer needs and maximize business results.



  • Negotiating vendor contracts, rebates, placement incentives and other financial and logistical arrangements for the bakery
  • Developing and implementing an appropriate bakery category strategy that align with company objectives and market trends
  • Supporting pricing and promotional strategies in alignment with departmental goals
  • Creating an effective product merchandising strategy
  • Selecting and curating a diverse range of bakery products to meet customer preferences and market demands – products include but not limited to breads, pastries, cakes, cookies and other baked goods
  • Analyzing sales data, pricing trends and profitability metrics to make data driven decisions regarding the product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional activities
  • Collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop and introduce new bakery products that resonate with the target customers and differentiate the offering from competitors
  • Implementing and enforcing quality assurance standards and food safety protocols to ensure that bakery products meets regulatory requirements and exceed customer expectations for freshness and quality
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership


  • Preferred three - five (3-5) years bakery experience
  • Preferred three - five (3-5) years perishable experience
  • Knowledge of technological systems such as but not limited to: Microsoft Office, AS400, E-mail, Voice mail etc


  • Monday – Friday
  • Standard Business hours
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays base on business needs



  • Office – approx. 65F – 75F



  • Physical abilities: Ability to stand, walk and sit throughout your day; Walking on a variety of flooring such as carpet, concrete, tile etc;
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; project management
  • Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality
  • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards from all perspectives
  • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies to all associates; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
