Job Title: Regional Operations Manager

Reports to: Director of Carrier Sales

Status: Salaried Exempt

 

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for managing a region of the company’s Carrier Sales teams with a focus on load board management to ensure continued growth and success of the department. Manage the operational needs for new and existing DCL customers while maintaining high levels of customer service and profit margins is a key responsibility in this position. Must be flexible and have the ability to multi-task under pressure.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee Carrier Sales Representatives and the carrier sales related processes.
  • Cultivate a high-performing culture of excellence by building employee skills through training, coaching, and mentoring to develop the overall team.
  • Daily oversight of load board to include load rate overrides, carrier approval overrides, account executives rate bump requests, DAT postings, and any relevant load board items.
  • Monitor all current loads and proactively identify potential problems. Communicate those issues with carriers, Carrier Sales Reps and Account Executives.
  • Collaborate with team on details required to ensure most effective solutions to customers and our carrier partners.
  • Manage KPI measurements, goals, and processes for departmental accountability.
  • Have a broad knowledge of truck markets/pricing and negotiate rates with carriers.
  • Provide feedback to sales team on rates submitted.
  • Ensure accurate data capture, data integrity and system entry in all carrier related functions in McLeod.
  • Effectively utilize data and problem-solving skills to proactively resolve carrier issues.
  • Work in partnership with senior leaders of the company to develop a plan for future departmental needs.

 

Job Requirements

 

Education/Experience

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years of brokerage experience required.
  • Strong understanding of brokerage operations and geographic freight markets is required.
  • Prior demonstration of negotiation skills is preferred. Existing customer and/or carrier base is a plus.
  • Experience with McLeod TMS a plus.

  • Qualified candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills along with follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be able to work with others along with working independently.
  • Must be detail-oriented and must meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Punctuality and a good work ethic are critical.
  • Ability to take a significant role in the SAP and SOP creation process.
