Location: Remote

The Director – Strategic Sourcing & Procurement is an exciting newly created role within the Company. Reporting directly into the group CFO, the Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement plays a central role in the seamless operations of businesses, ensuring that the external partners contribute positively to organizational goals. This exciting new role will oversee relationships with all external vendors who provide products or services to the company, ensuring that all contractual agreements are met and aligned with the company’s strategic goal. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our procurement processes and driving strategic initiatives to optimize our supplier relationships and procurement strategies.

Essential Functions: 

  • Oversee supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring vendors meet performance and compliance standards.
  • Drive strategic vendor selection, contract management, and continuous monitoring to optimize collaboration and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and manage procurement forecasts and cost-saving initiatives. Identify opportunities for cost optimization through strategic sourcing, demand management, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, operations, and technology teams, to align procurement strategies with business needs and objectives. Communicate effectively with senior leadership to provide regular updates on procurement performance and initiatives.
  • Review, analyze and negotiate vendor contracts. Responsible for both current and future vendor contracts including pricing and finalizing.
  • Continuously source bids from multiple vendors. Compare and contrast bids to ensure the best fit for the company.
  • Analyze how vendors are currently being utilized. Continuous monitoring of vendors performances through collaboration with both external and internal business partners.
  • Incorporating diverse-owned business, suppliers, and vendors into the company’s business practices.
  • Identify areas for opportunity beyond current responsibilities and collaborate with stakeholders to yield value.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of departmental processes and identify opportunities to consolidate rogue spend.
  • Ensure data integrity in procurement systems for designated spend areas and manage onboarding of new suppliers.
  • Partner with accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure communication with vendors in a timely manner; address financial issues and inquiries from internal partners and vendors.
  • Responsible for onboarding and diligence for new vendors
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and navigate challenges with resilience.
  • Proactively address fluctuating marketing conditions to ensure the proper vendor relationship.
  • While the individual will build out the function, eventually will need to build and mentor a small team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the procurement organization.

 

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Negotiation prowess and effective communication with influencing ability are paramount in a successful candidate.
  • Experience managing supplier and customer relationships and the competitive bidding process.
  • Familiarity with procurement category environments, policies, and competitive solicitation practices.
  • Proven record of driving cost savings throughout an organization.
  • Experience with progressive sourcing tools, such as cost structures, supplier business plans, electronic auctions, multi-year cost savings agreements, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent organizational skills
  • Deadline-oriented and ability to multi-task; Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently on special projects and complex assignments.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adept at managing multiple projects and complex situations.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to link long-range business goals to daily activities.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior business leaders to advise and drive key business decisions.
  • Service-oriented mindset, with a desire to ensure client satisfaction.
  • A proven champion in change management and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and expertise in, various IT and Procurement concepts, practices, procedures, and compliance requirements

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred, Master’s degree is a plus.
  1. At least eight years of advanced experience in procurement, contract review and negotiation.
  • Experience working in a multi-function, multi-geography environment preferred.
  • Experience in the Legal Services industry a plus.
  • Proficiency in negotiation, leadership, project management, and organization.
  • Knowledge of contract development principles, laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

 

 

TRAVEL:

This position is remote. The position will require periodic travel to corporate headquarters and divisional offices. The corporate headquarter location is Houston Texas with divisional offices throughout the US.
